It is important that you re-oil the deck so that your wood is protected, giving the timbers longer life spans, and keeping the timber looking their best. 

Once you have found the best decking oil for merbau to oil your wooden deck, you should maintain a regular schedule of oiling and sealing the deck every six to twelve months to help maintain your woods lifespan and to ensure that your deck looks its best year-round.

In short, if you are looking to give your boards a bit of color, staining for decking offers the broadest array of shades, with both full-bodied and semi-transparent finishes, whereas oil for decking is best if you are looking for a colorless treatment that soaks into the wood to protect it from the inside out, instead of creating a layer over top.
